Intake Rules

These are the rules the intake AI follows when conducting your interview and building your profile. They exist to keep the platform safe for everyone.

What will be included in your profile.

What you’re good at and what skills you have. What you’re looking for — people, opportunities, collaborations, connections. Your interests, passions, and the things that matter to you. Your general location, if you choose to share it (metro area only — never a specific address). Things you haven’t thought to mention that the AI surfaces through follow-up questions, with your permission.

What will never be included in your profile.

Identifying information about other people. You cannot use Serendipity to find, locate, or identify a specific individual. “I’m looking for my ex who works at…” will not be included.

Content designed to target vulnerable people. Requests designed to find people who are lonely, grieving, in financial distress, or otherwise vulnerable for the purpose of exploitation will not be included.

Threats, harassment, or discriminatory content. Content expressing intent to harm, harass, stalk, or discriminate against any person or group will not be included.

Illegal activity. Content describing intent to engage in illegal activity or seeking partners for illegal activity will not be included.

Sexual content of any kind. Serendipity is a platform for genuine human connection — professional, creative, intellectual, and personal. But it is not a hookup platform. We do not facilitate sexual encounters or the sharing of sexual content. Sexual content involving minors will result in immediate removal from the platform.

Your own detailed identifying information. Your real name, specific address, phone number, and similar PII will be excluded from your matchable profile to protect your pseudonymity. You can share these things directly in conversation with a match if you choose to — but they won’t be in the data that the matching engine uses.

How moderation works.

If the intake AI encounters content that falls under the above categories, it will decline to include that content in your profile, tell you why — clearly and without judgment — and continue the conversation, redirecting to productive topics.

There is no hidden flagging system. No human reviews what you said during intake. The AI handles it in the moment, in the conversation, and the problematic content simply isn’t written to your profile.

If a pattern of repeated attempts to include prohibited content is detected, the AI may end the intake early and your account may be suspended.

Appeals.

If you believe the intake AI incorrectly declined to include something in your profile, you can contact us at contact@serendipity.com and describe the issue. We’ll review the policy — not your conversation — and clarify whether the content falls within our rules.

Why these rules exist.

Serendipity works because people are honest. Honesty requires safety. Safety requires rules. These are the minimum set necessary to keep the platform safe enough for people to tell the truth.

We’d rather have fewer rules and enforce them clearly than have a hundred rules nobody reads. If you’re here in good faith to find genuine human connection, these rules will never get in your way.
